FoundArtTuesday Nov 14- SONG

Music is so powerful it can make you go places and remember things, even if you haven't lived them yourself. Desert Rose by Sting and Cheb Mami is one of those songs that you just have to listen to really loud and soak it in. this is a masterpiece, the combination of languages and instruments work very well and sometimes you feel you're listening to two completely different things that make perfect sense together. I had never heard of Cheb Mami before this song so I went out and bought all I could find of this guy and now I'm a fan. He sings almost everything in Arab but you can understand everything just listening to the music.
This card is made in cardboard, 6 x 4 inches, I used a real flower (compressed and dehydrated) and different found papers for the texture, the whole thing about this was the texture, the layers of the music, the musical texture, the different languages. It was really interesting to make and I started with the general idea and just let it take the form it wanted.
I left it in a US Postal Office Mailbox!

She really took this project by the horns and came up with a very interesting piece or artwork!

This is too much a coincidence but for a little over a year now the ring tone on my cell phone is Desert Rose. NO kidding! I love that song and I love Cheb as well. What a small world! Your piece is great...It feels like the music!
